Olivebridge, NY—In 1967, the Ashokan Environmental Education Program began offering residential learning opportunities to elementary schools across New York State. Thanks to the hard work and dedication of teams of instructors, administrators, and support staff, the magic of the Ashokan program is still thriving!
Former Ashokan staff members are invited to celebrate 50 years of outdoor education with a reunion of all those who have contributed to the organization’s success!
Save the date and plan to join us Earth Day Weekend, April 21-23, 2017. Come for a visit and bring your family. A variety of affordable meal and lodging options are available at the new and improved Ashokan Center facility.
Pre-registration is required so we may properly plan meals. You may view affordable meal and lodging plans by clicking Register Here. You may also get information and share your Ashokan memories and photos by liking the Ashokan Staff Alumni Facebook Page.
ACTIVITIES and EVENTS include:
Campfire and Story Circle: Share your favorite Ashokan memory and how your experience helped shape the course of your life.
Throughout Saturday and Sunday
Hayrides: Tour the campus on a hayride and learn more about the recent history of Ashokan, the demolition of the old campus and the transition to the new retreat facility.
Craft Shops: Test your memory and skill at making a fine broom, fire poker, or candle stick holder, or even better–make one with your kids! They’ll think you’re COOL, and you will take home a new Ashokan memory.
Games and Challenges: Enjoy renewing old friendships and getting acquainted with staff from other eras by participating in treasure hunts, sawing for syrup competition, Ashokan Jeopardy, and the revival of the great Ashokan Triathlon, (no skill or athletic ability required!)
Enjoy a banquet-style dinner with special guests, a raffle with prizes, an auction of donated items, and entertainment by the Ashokan All-Star Skit and Song Teams.
Jay Ungar & Molly Mason’s Family Band will top off the evening with music and an opportunity to kick up your heals!
