Anda Union Concert

Fri, Mar 28

Doors: 6:30pm | Showtime: 7:00pm | Performance Hall

Anda Union is a folk music band from Inner Mongolia, China, known for their unique blend of traditional Mongolian music with contemporary influences. Their music incorporates throat singing (khöömei), long song (urtyn duu), and the use of traditional instruments such as the morin khuur (horsehead fiddle) and tovshuur (two-stringed lute).

The group was formed in 2000 by a collective of musicians from different ethnic Mongolian backgrounds, including Khalkha, Oirat, and Buryat, bringing together a diverse range of regional Mongolian musical traditions. Their name, “Anda,” means “sworn brother” in Mongolian, symbolizing their unity and cultural mission.

Anda Union’s music is deeply rooted in Mongolian history and nomadic traditions, often exploring themes of nature, heritage, and the struggles of modern life in Inner Mongolia. They have toured extensively worldwide, helping to introduce traditional Mongolian music to international audiences. Their performances are known for their powerful harmonies, evocative melodies, and skillful instrumentation.
