The time is now! Over the next 2–3 weeks, we’re breaking ground on Ashokan’s new Pollinator Garden, and we need your help to make it thrive.

Why it matters

This living classroom and sanctuary will be filled with native wildflowers, shrubs, and fruiting plants that provide food and habitat for pollinators of all kinds. It’s an investment in biodiversity, sustainability, and the next generation’s connection to nature.

Who we need

We’re building a list of volunteers who want to roll up their sleeves and make a lasting impact. We’re especially looking for:

  • 3–5 Core Workers — strong hands to help with digging, prepping soil, and heavier work.

  • 12–15 Community Planters — friends of all ages (7 to 70 and beyond!) to help place plants in the ground, water, and celebrate the process.

When & Where

  • Where: The Ashokan Center grounds (look for signs near the Blue Bathrooms, by the propane tank).

  • When: Weekdays and some Sundays after 1pm (to work around weddings and other events). Exact days will be scheduled based on volunteer availability.

  • Starting: Today! Work continues for the next 2–3 weeks.

A note from Del Orloske, Outdoor Educator

“Let’s plant this idea, nurture it, and watch it grow. Together, we can create a pollinator haven that will bloom for years to come. The time is NOW for all Pollinator POWer People!” 🌞🐝
