Earlier this year, the Ashokan Watershed Stream Management Program’s Stream Explorers Youth Adventure returned to the Ashokan Center. Dozens of local students in grades 3–7 spent the day outdoors and in classrooms discovering the science of streams, watersheds, and the wildlife that depend on them.

Stream Explorers has been held at Ashokan since 2017 (with a pause in 2020 due to COVID), typically welcoming about 45 participants each year. The program offers hands-on opportunities for young people to connect with the natural world while building a deeper understanding of our watershed. It continues to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards, and we’re proud to host it here at Ashokan.
