Award-winning gypsy jazz violin legend Tim Kliphuis (Holland) and America’s rising guitar star Jimmy Grant (LA) celebrate the music of famed musical duo, Stéphane Grappelli and Django Reinhardt. This concert is the finale of our inaugural Grappelli-Django Weekend and is open to the public.
Tickets are available on a sliding scale, with the recommended ticket value of $20. Attendees of the Grappelli-Django Weekend do not need to purchase a ticket as it’s included in the weekend’s registration.
With their show “Under Paris Skies” Tim and Jimmy re-create the 1930s in Paris, including melancholy chanson “Je Suis Seul Ce Soir” (I’m Alone Tonight), swinging “J’Attendrai” (I Will Wait for You) and world-famous “Sous Le Ciel de Paris”, sung by legendary Edith Piaf. Their playing also draws inspiration from neo-classical and traditional music, as they alternate moments of dazzling interplay with melancholy and sheer exhilaration, in an inspired conversational journey that is different every night.
