Do you use a metronome or backing tracks while practicing?
Strum Machine (https://strummachine.com/app) came as a recommended practice tool from Hilary Hawke (teacher from 2023’s Banjo Weekend!). The full version is not free, but Ashokan Farewell happens to be one of the demos you can try before any purchase!
Strum Machine will play any chord progression, in any key, at any speed and is generated with audio from real instruments: guitar, mandolin, and standup bass. It’s one of the few apps built specifically for players of bluegrass, old-time, and fiddle tunes. Play any of the 1,000+ songs or input your own chords to play any song you know!.
If you try it out, let us know what you think!
And when you’re done warming up, be sure to check out Ashokan’s 2024 Music & Dance Camp schedule at ashokan.org. Strum with us at Acoustic Guitar Camp July 22-26. 2024.
