Nestled in New York’s beautiful Catskill Mountains amid beautiful forests, meadows, and streams, the Ashokan Center is a natural, serene, and inspirational setting. Our sustainably-designed facilities blend with the beauty of nature, creating a place where guests feel at home and inspired to learn, relax, and celebrate.

Buffet Style

Food

Chef William Warnes brings over 30 years of experience as a gourmet caterer to the Ashokan Center. He and his team enjoy providing specialized meals to groups of all sizes, be they 200 wedding guests, 150 folk musicians, or 75 hungry fifth graders just back from a hike. He enjoys working with event organizers to create the perfect menu, drink options, and serving style to exceed expectations.

Lodging

Lodging options include private rooms with private bathrooms, dorm-style bunkhouses with shared bathrooms, and campsites. 

For camps, festivals, and most retreats, guests must bring their own linens or sleeping bag, a pillowcase, a light blanket, towels and toiletries. Pillows are provided. Light quilts are provided in private rooms


Bed sizes for each room/lodging type:

  • Longhouse Bunks: one twin, a pillow is provided.
  • Longhouse Private Rooms: 1 queen, 1 twin, pillow and light quilt are provided
  • Red Maple Lodge Private Rooms: 4 twin, pillow and light quilt are provided
  • Sycamore Lodge Private Rooms: 1 queen, 3 twin, pillow and light quilt are provided
  • Mint & Nettle Cabins: 1 queen, pillows and light quilt are provided
  • Oregano & Parsley Cabins: 2 twins, pillows and light quilts are provided

Linens are provided for all wedding guests and are an option for rental by retreat guests.

Camping guests have access to our new bathhouse and must bring all their own camping gear. We do not provide RV hookups. 

Longhouse Lodge (4 dorm style common sleeping rooms, and 4 private rooms)

The longhouse is a welcoming, spacious, and comfortable two story bunkhouse. With handcrafted log bunk beds and a spacious, airy feel, Longhouse is a perfect mix of rustic and modern. It is divided into four wings. Each sleeps up to 24 in twin bunks with a shared bathroom. A private room with a queen bunk (twin on top) is located in each wing.

Sycamore Lodge (4 private rooms)

Sycamore Lodge provides an intimate feel that is perfect for smaller groups. Its four bedrooms are linked by a spacious common area with mini-fridge and sink. Ea​ch bedroom has a two bunk beds (one with queen bottom) and private bath. The upper level has a beautiful porch.

Red Maple Lodge (8 private rooms)

Red Maple Lodge is conveniently located alongside the dining hall and gathering spaces of the Esopus Lodge. Red Maple features eight private rooms, each with two bunkbeds and a private bath. Both levels have a covered porch, and the second floor has a shared lounge area.

Esopus Lodge

The multi-purpose Esopus Lodge houses our performance hall, dining hall, classrooms, and the kitchen. The performance hall has beautiful vaulted ceilings, sprung dance floor, stage, grand piano, and basic sound equipment.

Pewter Shop

A space with a 19th century feel, the Pewter Shop is a multi-purpose room on the upper campus. Well-heated by a wood stove during the winter, and cooled by sufficient windows and doors in warmer months, it provides a perfect location for more intimate gatherings year-round.

Hoot Hill

Pete Stage is 10′ x 12′  Toshi Stage is 16′ x 24′, both are covered by roof and have 200amp electrical service • Flat area near stage can accommodate a 60′ x 40′ tent  large flat area on hilltop – no power.

1885 Turnwood Covered Bridge

Moved to the property by Lester Moehring, owner circa 1932, this bridge was built in 1885 – the builder’s name and year are inscribed in the rafters – and is listed on the State and National Registers. It underwent a historical restoration in 2017-2018
