Continuing the path started on Saturday, we'll learn another great dance tune, working to get life and groove into our playing. It is not neessary to come to Saturday's class to join this one.

Come join us as we play through some of our favorite English Country Dance tunes from all 3 volumes of the Barnes books. We will do a variety of tunes - slow, fast, minor, major, waltzes, jigs, reels and ones in 3/2. All levels welcome.

We will look at a couple of ways of accompanying Northern tunes, specifically Irish and Breton music; you can test drive your Breton chops at the Soirée Française!

This class will focus on the style of accompaniment pioneered by the Carter Family. Originating in the South, this has become widespread in many types of music, and is a foundational technique for all guitarists interested in roots-based and roots-influenced musics.

We will explore Irish and Breton music for the mandolin, both from a melodic and accompaniment perspective, including some fun exercises to hone your skills.
