We’re grateful to share that The Ashokan Center has recently been awarded a two-year grant from the Dyson Foundation in support of our Arts & Adventure Summer Camps. This funding—$10,000 per year over the next two years—will help ensure that more young people in our region can access meaningful, outdoor, and creative summer experiences.

Our Arts & Adventure Summer Camps held in partnership with MyKingstonKids are designed to connect youth with nature, one another, and their own sense of curiosity and confidence. This years’ camps will happen over the course of four weeks in July. Through activities like hiking, archery, music, field games, and hands-on exploration, campers build skills, friendships, and a deeper relationship with the natural world—all within a supportive and joyful environment.

A core part of this program is accessibility. With the support of funders like the Dyson Foundation and many others, we are able to offer these camps at no cost, while also removing barriers such as transportation through daily bussing to and from Kingston. This ensures that more young people—regardless of financial circumstance—can take part in the Ashokan experience.

“Support from the Dyson Foundation plays an essential role in sustaining this work,” said Ashokan’s Development Director, Sara Trapani. “This multi-year grant helps us provide high-quality programming, compensate our educators and artists, and continue growing a program that has become a vital resource for families in our community.”

We are deeply thankful to the Dyson Foundation for their commitment to youth, access, and community-based learning—and for helping make another two summers of Arts & Adventure possible.
