Fall Family Fun Fest Returns!

A Catskill family tradition since 2006, the Ashokan Center’s Fall Family Fun Fest returns Sunday, October 20th from 12:00 to 4:00 PM in Olivebridge, NY. Families are invited to celebrate fall in the Catskills at this family-friendly community event featuring apple cidering, pumpkin decorating, horse-drawn carriage rides, guided hikes, blacksmithing and broom-making, tasty seasonal food, and of course, live music.

ACTIVITIES
Guests are invited to partake in apple cidering with Ashokan’s expert education staff and then sample both hot and cold variations of the beverage. Pumpkin decorating is available for children on a first-come first-served basis. Pumpkins provided by Red Barn in Red Hook, NY.

Broom-making and blacksmithing demonstrations are free to observe, but are an additional charge to partake in to create your own take-home project. Broom-making demonstrations will be from 12:00-1:00 PM and the workshop from 2::00-4:00 PM. Blacksmithing demonstrations and take-home projects will be from 12:00 – 4:00 PM.

Dun Dreamin Farm horse-drawn hay rides will be available throughout the day on a route through the picturesque Ashokan Center at peak fall foliage season.

Guided hikes led by the Ashokan Center’s expert education team to Cathedral Gorge (12:30 & 2:30pm) and Wigwam (1:00pm)

MUSIC & ENTERTAINMENT
12:10 & 1:30 PM Juggleology is a comedy juggling duo including members Bruce Engholm & Richard Sky of the Mid-Hudson Juggling Club. They deliver a dazzling display of dexterity, defy gravity, and perform mesmerizing tricks for all ages.

12:30 PM Laurie McIntosh (aka Story Laurie) is a storyteller, songwriter and singer—an enchanting entertainer who transports listeners of all ages to lands near and far with her delightful renditions of folk tales and vibrantly entertaining, socially conscious songs for kids and families. Since making her home in the Catskill Mountains nearly 20 years ago, Laurie has performed for audiences of all ages at schools, libraries, festivals and historical societies.

2:00 PM Strawberry Wine is a Hudson Valley-based power trio of folk instrumentalists David Chernack, Chelsea Needham, and Tyler Dezago. They draw on traditional music from around the world, charging it with their own electrifying touch. From bluegrass to Old-time to Scandinavian to Celtic –they play it all! They will play a melodious concert set on fiddle, guitar, and mandolin, and then kick up a lively set of tunes for a beginner-friendly square dance. Saugerties percussive dancer and dance caller Nicole Ball will teach all the moves. No partner or experience needed.

FOOD
Tasty seasonal food will be available for sale 12:00-4:00 PM provided by Diego’s Taqueria.
