YESS! Alumni Recognized for Environmental Work

Congrats to Bennett Elementary School students and instructional coach, Karen Hadley, for being recognized for their work in reducing the use of plastic and removing it from the waste stream!

You may remember these students and their presentation from YESS! 2023 Youth Empowerment & Sustainability Summit at Ashokan. The group’s mission has been to reduce plastic waste and increase recycling through the TREX program, which uses collected plastic film as raw material in the manufacturing of its products.

Let’s give it up to these dedicated students for their ongoing efforts and also to Karen for all of her leadership, who was recently recognized with a special award from the New York State Association for Reduction, Reuse and Recycling.

Thanks for inspiring us to follow in your footsteps!

If your school or organization is interested in attending or presenting at our upcoming Youth Empowerment & Sustainability Summit taking place February 21 – 23, 2024, please reach out to us education@ashokancenter.org.
