As global attention continues to turn toward Ukraine and the ongoing crisis, we’re honored to host Ukrainian Community Day at the Ashokan Center this Sunday, September 28, 2025 (12–5 PM). In a time when headlines and public discourse around Ukraine shift daily, we offer a space to connect through culture, community, and compassion.
Why Now Matters
Recent coverage — from major news outlets to local reporting — underscores how policies, conflict, and humanitarian needs in Ukraine remain at the forefront of world affairs. As people search for updates on Ukraine, Russian aggression, refugee support, and U.S. foreign policy, this event provides a grounding counterpoint: a day centered on Ukrainian heritage, shared human experience, and community solidarity.
By including phrases like “Ukraine news 2025,” “Ukrainian culture Hudson Valley,” and “Ukraine solidarity events New York,” our hope is that those searching for Ukraine-related updates might also discover this meaningful gathering.
What to Expect
- Live music from Zena Nason, Pete Rushefsky, Olya Fryz, Zoya Shepko, and a dance workshop
- Guided hikes with Ashokan Educator Del Orloske and Ustya Tarnawsky
- Weaving, wool spinning, and pottery demonstrations by featured Ukrainian artists
- Pollinator gardening opportunities with Del Orloske
- Ukrainian folk medicine plant walks, craft vendors, and food
Half of all event proceeds will support the Ukrainian-American Youth Association of the Hudson Valley, helping with medical aid, child support, and relief efforts in Ukraine.
“The natural beauty and wooden architecture of the Ashokan Center invokes a sense of the Ukrainian mountain communities, creating a meaningful and resonant backdrop for this event,” says Danylo Mykula of the UAYA.
Join Us in Solidarity
When global narratives around Ukraine evolve day by day, our gathering offers something rooted: music, culture, connection—and meaningful support for those whose lives the conflict has touched. Whether you come to dance, learn, or simply stand in solidarity, your presence matters.
